Scale N stop and go

I have a N scale layout, checked all the connections OK but loocs would run and stop at random. Cleaned the tracks but.... still stop and go. if it stops and I give it a tiny nudge it will go another meter or so. Maybe my cleaning is not good enough any good and easy ways to clean the trecks better.

I would suggest to clean it properly and try again. if possible please share some picture.
