Track gaps in a basic layout

Post by Laurent »

Hello, I'm currently evaluating RailModeller Express before purchasing the Pro version. I've created a well known basic Fleishmann N layout but I'm getting unexpected track gaps which I cannot solve. Is that a normal Express behavior or do I miss something in the design ?
Another question is about the baseboard option, can you create multiple baseboards within a layout with the Pro version ?
Unfortunately it looks like I cannot upload the layout source file as an attachment but only the jpeg.
Thank you for your help.

When planning layouts in CAD software, you might notice small gaps or misalignments that won't appear in your actual layout. This is normal - model train track systems were designed with built-in tolerances that allow connections to flex slightly during real-world assembly.

Classic model train track systems, including Fleischmann, feature flexible track connections that naturally accommodate slight adjustments during physical assembly.

For best results:
  • Adjust the tolerance settings in app's preferences to better match real-world track behavior
  • Start parallel track sections with the Parallel Track assistant for exact parallel track distances
  • When working with curved turnouts, try adding them as the final step
  • If desired, use small pieces of flex track or shortened sectional tracks to resolve any remaining gaps

All the best,
Jan

Thank you for your reply and suggestions on how to handle these situations.

My 2nd question was about the baseboard functionality, can I draw multiple baseboards under one layout ? meaning multiple baseboards of different sizes next to each other that form a larger baseboard that supports the full layout.
