Hello Jan,
Thank you for the program I use it a lot. Rather then spend resources in 3D development. Why not just export the existing 3D imagery as a obj file that can be used in other programs that are built for 3D.

Export to the open Collada 3D interchange file format is planned for a future update.
There's also an open feature request (indicating there is only moderate interest in such a feature):
Export as 3D file for using in SketchUp or similar apps
