Updating Community Layouts [Moved]

Post by rhopkin »

Hi

I shared my OsO Valley Double Deck layout, I have since made changes so it all flows better and redesigned the top deck using 98% Kato track (it's worked very well so far on the lower deck) rather than Peco. I've tried to update the layout on the community pages but it doesn't seem to let me.

I tried updating from the communty layouts section and also by uploading it as a new one but I never saw the option just to update. Guess I'm doing something wrong :-)

Thanks

Re: Always new layouts: "Community Layouts"!

Post by RailModeller Support »

When sharing a layout that has the same file name (or similar, e.g. with "Rev.2" added to the end) as a layout uploaded earlier the program should present an Upload dialog that would look somewhat like this:
Upload update to cloud.png
Upload update to cloud.png (129.94 KiB) Viewed 4208 times
When a layout is selected from the popup menu labelled "Update Layout" the existing file in the Community Layouts will be replaced with the new, local layout.
This will keep all counters for downloads or likes as well as any additional, localized descriptions that might have been added (as well as any comments, coming soon).

Hope this helps,
Jan

PS: The functionality to update layouts shared as Community Layouts was introduced in version 6.0.4

Thanks Guys!

I've just updated the OsO Valley using this method.

Love the improvements your making all the time to RM Pro. Hope to get back to work with my layout soon. Still stuck on the boat in Thailand but will get going again when I return home from the Boat in May.
