Peco n-Scale FineScale Alignment

I all, trying to build a yard using Peco n-Scale Finescale track in RailModeller and have found an interesting challenge. When I use SL-E391F and SL-E392F as below the tracks are correct for angle but there is a significant different is the space between the tracks in each direction. I tested with AnyRail and AnyRail doesn't display the same problem with the same track (and I really want to use RailModeller). Any ideas?

Screen shot from RailModeller - note the difference in gap between the parallel tracks upwards vs the ones downwards?

Screen shot from Anyrail which shows the tracks with the same gap.

Hi Trevor,

We are using the specifications issued by Peco to create track libraries.

From their specifications for the SL-E39xF turnouts (https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1541/ ... 1535721060) it can seen that the diverging track is slightly shorter than the main track, i.e. the center of the diverging track doesn't align with the main track:

So connecting two turnouts will not result in their main tracks being aligned.

You can achieve the desired figure by e.g. inserting the second turnout at the desired parallel track distance using the Parallel Track assistant and filling the gap with a shortened piece of sectional or flex track:

Though it looks really tight, i.e. judging from the Peco images you might have to cut some ties to make everything fit..

Hope this helps,
Jan

Hi Jan,

What you are saying doesn't seem to make sense to me? When I use the same turnouts on other layout software (ie: Anyrail) I don't have the same issue and it does not make sense that Peco would design the turnouts to require a small piece of flex in the middle to make them line up? I really want to use RailModeller but can't make sense of this.

Cheers
Trevor

Hi Trevor,

I'm afraid I can't speak for other track planning software.. we use the specifications published by the manufacturer resulting in the track figure described earlier.

Hope this helps,
Jan
