Difference Pro vs Classic

Is there a list (or anything) that shows what the difference (as far as features) between the old version (4.1.10) and the new Pro version is.
It "appears" to me, looking at the website and reading the forums, that there is not a while lot of difference between these versions.
Is it worth upgrading (one there is a stable version) ?

Not yet, no.
Speaking in terms of features available in the upcoming re-release it's mostly the Stock, 3D View and Library Editor that's currently missing.

The stock will be added within a couple of weeks.
3D view will be reinvented from scratch with extended functionality and is currently scheduled for later this year.
The Library Editor is also scheduled as integrated functionality later this year.

From a "glass is half full" perspective there's of course all the new functionality plus things coming up in the near future.
New (major) features planned for the next months include background images, a table top editor, customizable/parametric shapes, localized library element descriptions.

Hope that helps,
Jan

I find the new version to be vastly inferior. Many usability features such as key stroke ability to duplicate track sections do not appear to exist. I find this version too frustrating to explore. Please continue to support the original version.

RailModeller, sacto_steve,
Thanks for the replies. Given that I'm fairly happy with the classic version, I guess I'll wait until missing and/or new features have been implemented and the bugs worked out...

Just being completely honest. I've had the thought in this last day that I have paid for the privilege of being a beta tester after watching the YouTube tutorials for the older version. That's not exactly what I signed up for. I'm Still slugging it out mainly because I don't want to learn and then have to relarn. This is pretty frustrating right now.

FWIW, the old version is of course still avaiable for download and running just fine under 10.10.
And as mentioned licenses can be obtained by simply forwarding us your App Store receipt.

Cheers,
Jan

Dear Sirs,
I find this lack of commitment to deliver and end product very difficult to understand. Could you at least share the timings you are envisioning for a full product available (3D feature, etc.).
Best,

Hi there,

the product is available from the Mac App Store since earlier this year.

The library editor will be delivered as an integrated function later this year and as we're aiming to enhance the 3D planning capabilities with full terrain modeling as well as 3D structures placed at arbitrary heights a much enhanced three-dimensional viewing mode will also follow later this year.

Things that just barely missed the initial release include the table top editor allowing you to specify the basic shape of your layout complete with measurements and pre-defined as well as completely customizable shapes.
A dedicated feature for importing images into the layout is also in the making.

Cheers,
Jan

It's worse than just the missing editor: Unfortunately we are even unable to load the libraries, that we defined with the Classic version. As I am using self defined tracks (turnouts) based on prototype scale, I cannot use the Pro version at all. A migration tool for the libraries would solve this or the ability to read the old libraries, but that is not in sight. Thus I need to wait until "later this year" --- whenever this will be.

Custom library import has actually been added for 5.0.6.
The update is currently in beta testing and will be publicly available via the App Store probably within a week!

Cheers,
Jan
